Towanda Jr.Sr. High School faculty and students go blue for child abuse awareness and prevention month. #GOBLUEBRADFORD

Towanda Jr/Sr High School held their traditional Black Knight walk thru to celebrate the 1st place Scholarship Challenge Team of Grady Templeton, Ryan O’Connor, Nate Spencer, and Dacion Yrigollen; FBLA students – Jocelyn Stroud, Shaylee Greenland, Allison Edsell, Brooke Cease, Jaslynne Reynolds, Paradise Sperry, and Kaleigh Fields who qualified for the state competition this month; and Forensic students – Nicolas Johnson, Hannah Risch, Kylie Ocasio, and Zayne Wickwire who qualified to compete in nationals later this summer!

On Saturday, March 26th the Black Knights were victorious by winning the Scholarship Challenge and the Kwasnoski Cup. The last day of the competition included the final four teams of Towanda, Elmira, Spencer-Van Etten, and Wyalusing. After defeating Elmira 70 to 20 Towanda moved on to the final match. Team Captain Grady Templeton led his team of Ryan O’Connor, Nate Spencer, and Dacion Yrigollen to final victory with a 60-30 score over Spencer-Van Etten. The team is coached by Mr. Pete Henty who said “it was a complete privilege to work with these students” and also how proud he is of them and the way they embodied Black Knight pride and the spirit that we have in our school.

Towanda has been part of Scholarship Challenge since it began in 1981, and this is their first victory since 1991. Towanda has now won a cumulative total of $15,975 of prize money for the school.
