Towanda Area Jr/Sr High News

Mrs. Rebecca Stanfield, principal of Towanda Junior/Senior High School, announced today that Azizakhon Ismailova and Ryan O’Connor have been named as this year’s Rochester Institute of Technology Computing Medal Award winners. This award is given to one female and one male student from the junior class at participating high schools in recognition of outstanding achievement in computing. These students have distinguished themselves academically, are active and involved members of their school and community, and demonstrate interest and ability in computing. Each nominee will receive an $8,000 per year scholarship at RIT should they enroll in the fall following graduation from high school.

The Boys Cross Country Team placed 2nd at the District 4 A championships, qualifying them to the PIAA State Championships on Saturday, November 5th. Towanda Jr/Sr High School is celebrating Rivalry Week with several festivities including spirit week! Staff and students dressed in their best neon outfits today!

The Bradford-Sullivan Counties’ Outstanding Young Woman Program will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 6:30 pm in the Towanda High School new auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $12. Representing Towanda are Abigail Rice, Aziza Ismailova, Kelci Carle, Paradise Sperry, Katherine West and Eliza Fowler. We wish the best of luck to these amazing ladies!

The Towanda Jr/Sr High School will be hosting Canton at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 16th for their Homecoming game. Crowning of the Homecoming Queen will take place at halftime. Homecoming Candidates are pictured from L to R: Jocelyn Stroud, Alyse Bass, Kathryn Dunn, Mya Savercool, and Abby Locke.

The Homecoming Dance, “Enchanted Evening” will take place on Saturday, September 17th from 7:00 – 10:00 PM. This event is for 9th – 12th grade students only. Tickets can be purchased for $10.00 during lunch periods.

Wednesday, August 17 at 6:00 PM in the Jr./Sr. High School Auditorium.

Parents and students will receive valuable information about the Jr./Sr. High School, as well as receive tours of the building.
