The intent of this communication is to notify our school community of a recent Covid-19 situation involving a staff member within the district.

On February 27, 2021, we were notified that a support staff member at the Jr/Sr High School, who is also a van driver for the district, has tested positive for COVID-19. The last day this individual was in school and drove students was Friday, February 26, 2021. Potential close contacts have been identified and informed to not return to school until approved to do so based on CDC and DOH quarantine guidelines.

This event is open to Special Education High School students in grades 10-12 as well as parents, guardians, and other interested parties residing in Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan and Tioga counties. The conference will be held virtually and there is no cost to attend. We will be providing speakers and breakout sessions on the following pathways: Postsecondary Education and Training, Employment, and Community Engagement.

For the remainder of this school year, the district will implement virtual instruction days for any future weather-related closures. On these days, students will be expected to complete online assignments posted in Schoology. Teachers will be available to assist students from 9:00AM to 12:00PM, and from 1:00PM to 3:00PM, using email and Zoom. Students and parents who need assistance can contact teachers through email or Schoology messages.

Towanda High School’s FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) members have faced a lot of change this year just like sports teams and other school clubs due to COVID. One of the perks of the FBLA club is getting to attend regional, state, and national conferences where students test in a business-related subject to try to qualify for states and then hopefully move on to nationals. It is a great club that allows students to network with other students from other schools while building their business background and knowledge.
