The intent of this communication is to notify our school community of two recent Covid-19 situations involving a student and an additional staff member within the district.

On Thursday, January 14, 2021, we were notified that a staff member at Towanda Area Elementary School (TAES) has tested positive for COVID-19. The last day this individual was in school was Friday, January 8, 2021. Due to the physical distancing protocols in place, no close contacts have been identified at this time. Based on the Department of Education’s School Closure Matrix, the Towanda Area Elementary school will remain closed temporarily. TAES currently has 3 positive cases that count towards the 14-day rolling period of the matrix, which necessitates a temporary transition to remote learning. The goal is for students in this building to return to in-person instruction on Tuesday, January 19.
