Jr/Sr High Spirit Week This week at the high school we will be celebrating our homecoming for 2018. Our spirit week will feature daily themes and a pep assembly. Friday night we will crown our homecoming royalty at the football game and the week will culminate with our semi-formal dance on Saturday night at the high school. The spirit week activities are for all students but the dance will be for students in grades 9-12 only. We would like to clarify the spirit week themes:Tuesday will be Tie Dye dayWednesday will be class color war dayThursday will be celebrate your favorite decade dayAnd Friday will be show your Black and Orange spirit day. Prizes are awarded to the most spirited students!! Show off your school spirit and root on the Black Knights!
October Walk to School Our first walk to school for the year was a huge success with 137+ walkers. Our Lady Knights Soccer Team lead the way today thank you for volunteering to join us!!
Towanda Jr/Sr High School Secure PA State Police, utilizing bomb dogs, have informed us that the Jr/Sr High School is safe and secure. School will open on schedule tomorrow morning. All after school practices are cancelled for this evening. The bonfire at Riverfront will be held as scheduled. We understand that students may have things in the High School. Please do not come to the school this evening. It will be locked. Be assured that those items will be locked up securely for them to get tomorrow morning. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience and understanding with such an unfortunate situation.
Rachael's Challenge Today Towanda Jr/Sr High School students heard the inspiring story of Rachel Scott, whose example of kindness and acceptance was brought to light after she became the first victim of the Columbine High School tragedy. They learned how Rachel’s Challenge is positively impacting K-12 classroom climate, culture and Social/Emotional Learning with powerful and sustainable life-changing programs. GTP Interns Volunteer at THS GTP summer interns worked at Towanda Jr/Sr High School as volunteers on Tuesday, June 26th to help weed and clean up outdoor planting areas. The District appreciates the help provided by the interns to groom the grounds around the high school.
Jr/Sr High School Sports Physicals for 2018-2019 All students entering grades 7 – 12 the sports physicals will be June 6, 2018, from 8:30 – 11:30 and 12:30 – 3 PM in the high school nurse’s office. The cost is $18.50, checks can be made payable to THS Athletic Department. Paperwork is available in the school office or online. Physicals will not be given without completed paperwork and payment.
RIT Awards Mrs. Rebecca Stanfield, Principal of Towanda Junior/Senior High School, announced today that Hannah Tavani and Nathaniel Smith have been named as this year’s Rochester Institute of Technology Computing Medal Award winners.
Sports Award Banquet The Year End Sports Award and Spring Sports Award banquet for all 9-12th grade students who participated in a Spring sport will be Wednesday, May 30th @ 6 PM in the High School New Auditorium. The Towanda Booster Club will be providing pizza and drinks in the cafeteria following the awards.
