TASD Veteran's Day Assembly 2016
Veteran’s Day is an official United States public holiday. On November 11 each year all persons that have served in the Armed Forces. When the day was determined, President Woodrow Wilson addressed the nation in an address to express what he felt the day signified. The President’s address was imparted at a celebration held at Towanda Area Elementary School. The day signifies the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month to honor veterans.
On November 11, 2016, Towanda area Elementary School honored local veterans. The school held a celebration that included winners of a school wide writing competition, choral performances, sing along opportunities, and patriotic songs played by the elementary band. The local boy scouts and girl scouts led the Pledge of Allegiance. The local Towanda Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) were invited and honored as the color guard for the celebration. Numerous parents and veterans joined the celebration.
