The Towanda High School Guidance Office will sponsor a Financial Aid Information Night on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Towanda Junior Senior High School Auditorium.

D.C. Trip fruit orders will be distributed tomorrow, Wednesday, December 4th. Students must have a car or truck to pick up their orders.

Towanda graduate, David Ausem, will play a major role in the movie, "Hollow Creek." David plays Officer Thompson and also serves as the assistant director. The movie stars Guisela Moro and Steve Daron, with a special appearance by Burt Reynolds. The movie will be shown at the Keystone Theater on Friday, November 29, at 2:00 PM. "Hollow Creek" is rated PG 13. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through Hollow Creek's Facebook page using paypal, or they can be purchased at the Towanda Jr/Sr High School office on November 25 and 26.

David is a 2003 graduate of Towanda High School. While at Towanda, he participated in football, wrestling and track. David graduated from East Stroudsburg University in 2009 with a BA in theater/directing. David is currently a master actor at the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theater.

The Senior Class of 2014 will present their annual class play, “Bergeracky,” on November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd at 7:00 P.M. in the auditorium at the high school. The book for “Bergeracky” was written by Flip Kobler and Cindy Marcus, music is by Dennis Poore, and lyrics by Flip Kobler.

Parents of JV and Varsity students who participated in a FALL sport please be advised that the Fall Sports Award program will be held on Monday, November 25th at 6:30PM in the new auditorium. You are invited for pizza in the cafeteria after the awards provided by the Booster Club.

The School Board recently approved changes to the school calendar. On December 6, 2013, and December 19, 2013, students will arrive to school 2 hours later than normal, similar to a 2-hour delay schedule. Towanda Area School District teachers will be having an Act 80 inservicing on those 2 mornings. On February 14, 2014, the original schedule was for an early dismissal for students. This has been changed to an Act 80 Day for the entire day. Students will not report to school on February 14, 2014.

The Towanda Area School District is accepting sealed bids on the sale of the 1st Ward School Property. The bid opening is November 14, 2013 at 11 AM in the Business Office at 410 State St Towanda PA 18848. Click the link for more information.
