Summer Academy Students Graduate
The summer academy program was created for at risk students to regain credits lost and/or to complete remaining graduation requirements for students in grades 9 – 12. The program is in its’ 9th year of operation. The goal is to keep students engaged in the educational curriculum and to explore options of college and careers upon high school graduation.
Agencies that are involved with the summer program include but are not limited to: Bradford County Historical Museum, Bradford County Courthouse, Career Link, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Keystone College, Cargill, and Mr. Lloyd Vaughn. It also has a positive impact on the Towanda community as it encourages students to pursue postsecondary education or to contribute to the local workforce and economy.
This summer 7 students benefited from this program, with 5 students successfully completing all graduation requirements and received their diplomas. This program is funded through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit which is sponsored by businesses including Citizens and Northern Bank, First Citizens Bank, and UPMC.
The program was created by the late Dave McWilliams, and we proudly continue it annually in his honor. We are pleased to announce the following students received their diplomas: Quinn Barto, Talor Gaitings, Cody Kershner, Keagan Miller, and Kaleigh Vogel.
