Towanda Area School District is working on a plan to provide on the go meals to our students while our schools are shut down. In addition, we will also be partnering with our local C.H.O.P. (Child Hunger Outreach Program) in order to help our families during this time. Messages will go out to ALL of our families with information on when this service will begin and where they can go to receive these items. Please continue to check our website for updates. It is our goal to help our district families as much as possible over these next few weeks.

I would like to take a moment to share some information about our preparation and protocols surrounding COVID-19 Coronavirus issues.  As a district, we feel it is important to be proactive in our approach to this potential health related issue.  The district’s custodial department uses the industries best practices in disinfecting desktops, door handles, light switches and bathrooms nightly.  We currently use two hospital grade disinfectants in our nightly custodial routines in all of our buildings.  Virex 256 and Oxivir are CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) approved disinfectant products that kill a broad set of viruses.

Mr. Werner continues to do excellent things within our musical department. He is currently in his 15th year with the district and has made a tremendous impact on our past and present students. Seen here is Mr. Werner incorporating some guitar lessons into his 8th-grade music class.

Please respond to the 2020 Census. Your information is important to many program funds that the District receives.

Rand Whipple presented a science presentation to students in grades two through six. In this instance, Harsh Patel was selected to participate. Harsh is standing under a baggie filled with water and pencil stuck through the bag of water. Although the students anticipated Harsh getting drenched, the science proved them all wrong.

On Friday, February 21st, J. Andrew Morrow faculty and staff all wore the same T-shirt to send a unified message to students, “Choose Kind and Share a Smile.”

Towanda Area School District schools hosted a Hat Day with proceeds benefitting CHOP (Childhood Hunger Outreach Program), which serves our students with the in school pantry and backpack programs. JAM Primary raised $115, Towanda Elementary raised $152.21 and the Towanda Jr. Sr. HS raised $129 for a total of $396.21. In addition to the hat day, Towanda Area School District employees held a dress down day with proceeds benefitting CHOP which raised an additional $357.00. Between the 2 fundraisers, the total proceeds are $753.21.
