COVID Update 5/11/2021- Jr/Sr High School Move to Virtual Learning
The intent of this communication is to notify our school community of a recent Covid-19 situation involving a student within the district.
This afternoon, we were notified of a student at the Towanda Jr/Sr High School who was deemed a "probable" COVID-19 case. The last day this individual was in school was Friday, May 7, 2021. Potential close contacts have been identified and informed to not return to school until approved to do so based on CDC and DOH quarantine guidelines.
The Jr/Sr High School currently has 4 cases that count towards the Department of Education's School Closure Matrix. As a medium-sized building, the Jr/Sr High School would need to close for a period of 2-3 days with the onset of 4 cases in the building when Bradford County is in the Substantial category. The Towanda Jr/Sr High School will be closed for in-person instruction on Wednesday, May 12 and Thursday, May 13. All extracurricular activities will be paused beginning Wednesday, May 12, 2021, and resume Thursday, May 13, 2021, at 3:15 PM. In-person instruction will resume Friday, May 14, 2021.
Towanda Elementary School and the J. Andrew Morrow Primary buildings both currently have 0 cases of COVID-19 and will continue with in-person instruction.
