NHS Inductees

National Honor Society Induction Ceremony Held

The 55th annual National Honor Society Induction Ceremony was held at the Towanda Jr. Sr. High School on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022. There were 13 students inducted into Towanda's chapter of NHS. The new inductees are: Rein Alderfer, Chloe Campbell, Haley Coolbaugh, Mamy Coulibaly, Kathryn Dunn, Polina Goncharova, Shaylee Greenland, Abby Locke, Eric McGee, Diego Oliver Aguirre, Joel Pelachik, Mya Savercool, and Jocelyn Stroud. During the ceremony, the senior members of NHS were also recognized. Family and friends of the NHS members were invited to attend the ceremony. We are proud of these students for their commitment to scholarship, character, leadership, and service!

Vehicular Career Day at Towanda Elementary School

Towanda Elementary would like to extend a big THANK YOU to the following local businesses and organizations for attending the Start Your Engines. . . A Vehicular Career Day at Towanda Elementary School! Students from 3rd and 4th grade were able to learn about careers that involved vehicles and equipment brought by: Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority, PennDOT, Bishop Brothers, First Energy Corp./Penelec, Guthrie Ambulance Services, Pennsylvania Game Warden, Bradford County Conservation District, and the Towanda Police Department. A big THANK YOU to all of the presenters for taking the time to share what they do with our students. We would also like to thank Representative Tina Pickett and Bradford County Commissioner John Sullivan for stopping in to see our students and presenters!

Towanda Jr/Sr High School Threat

At roughly 11:50 AM, a student reported to district staff a message found in a girls bathroom about a bomb in the Jr/Sr High School building. Students and staff immediately evacuated the building to a safe location. Towanda Police Department and local Pennsylvania State Troopers arrived on the scene and began assisting district administration with the investigation. Initial results of the on going investigation indicated that the threat was not substantiated, and have led investigators to a person of interest. Out of an abundance of caution, Pennsylvania State Police brought in two bomb sniffing dogs to search the building. Troopers have cleared the building and deemed it safe for reentry. School will open and resume at it’s normal time on Tuesday morning. Anyone with information that can help our investigation is encouraged to contact the Jr/Sr High School.

Parents, please talk to your students about the seriousness of these types of situations. Towanda Area School District will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law, which can lead to significant criminal and financial repercussions for the perpetrator and their family.
