What is Online Learning?

Online learning is a viable option for students as they plan their education. There are many benefits to the online learning platform, including flexibility, various course offerings, and working in an alternative setting.

The Black Knight Academy is a district-operated learning platform. In existence for over 10 years, our program has a history of helping students succeed. In addition to the flexibility of working on your courses at your preferred times, or working from home, the Black Knight Academy offers several other benefits that most cyber charter schools are not able to offer. First, we offer face-to-face support, and we are available through phone or email. Second, we use district teachers to teach our courses, so there is a personal connection with between our students and teachers. Finally, we offer technical and academic support.

Is Online Learning right for me?

To be successful, there are several important qualities that students should possess. These include:

• Motivation to learn
• Proficient reading skills
• Proficient writing skills
• Technical skills
• Independence
• Able to ask for help
• Good time management

Some students think that online learning will be easier. It is not. In some ways, it is actually harder. It can be frustrating when you are stuck and you can’t just raise your hand to get help. It can be lonely when you don’t have friends to help you with a project. It can be stressful when you get behind in your work and you have to work hard to get caught up. Online learning is not right for everyone. Carefully consider whether you would be successful before you decide to try online learning.
