The 5th Annual Senior Class Color Run is coming up on Sunday, October 11, starting at 10:00 AM, at the Towanda Elementary School parking lot. The cost is $30 for an individual runner/walker. If you form a team, you pay $30 for the first runner/walker, and $22.50 for each additional. Registration fee will get you a t-shirt and a color packet for the start of the race. All profits benefit the Class of 2021 class trip. We can’t wait to see you at the start line for a colorful autumn morning!

Attention All Parents and Guardians: We have recently found out that even if you send your child to school with a packed lunch they can also receive fresh fruits, vegetables, and milk free of charge. Due to a recent USDA waiver that allows free meals for all students through December 31, 2020; students who bring their lunch from home can supplement their lunch with free healthy options. This is a great opportunity for parents to save time and money when packing lunches each morning. To qualify, students must select three of the five offered components, and one of those must be a fruit or vegetable.

Starting tomorrow Towanda Elementary School will begin to send home the laptops every day with the students. Our expectation is that your student will be responsible to bring their laptop and charger back and forth to school every day. We are beginning this process so that the students can become familiar with transporting their laptop and also to be prepared should the student need the laptop if the need to teach a school day virtually should be necessary. It is recommended that your student transport their laptop back and forth to school every day using a backpack. Please have a conversation with your student about their responsibility and for caring for their laptop. Please remind your student that the laptop should not be taken out of the backpack on the bus. Late Sunday evening we learned that we have a positive case of Covid-19 in our school district. We are currently working with the Department of Health in navigating this situation. Our of an abundance of caution, we will be closing school today while we continue to work through this situation. This will also allow our custodial staff to put extra cleaning protocols in place as well. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We will continue to communicate information as it becomes available. All extra curricular activities and practices are cancelled for today. Twelve month employees should report to work at their regular time.

We are pleased to provide an opportunity for your student(s) in grades three through six to participate in our picture day. Your student(s) will have the opportunity to have their picture taken by our photographer. In order to accommodate your work schedule, we are doing the pictures for our Black Knight Online Academy and our Virtual Option 2 students in the evening since the schedule for the students that are attending school in person will take the whole school day. To make the process easier for families that have multiple students, we have included a family time so that all students can get their picture taken during the same time period.
