Hello! My name is Emily Hockenberry. I teach English III (an 11th grade American Literature Course) and Creative Writing at Towanda Area High School. In addition to teaching, I am the director of the spring musical each year. I have been playing piano and singing since I was seven, and I am lucky that I get to put those skills to good use even though I teach English and not Music.

Although I'm originally from Jersey Shore, PA, I have been teaching in Towanda since 2009. I attended Houghton College in Western New York, graduating with a double major in English and Adolescence Education in 2008.

Since I started my career as a teacher, I have participated in the Endless Mountains Writing Project at Mansfield University and earned 18 graduate credits from Walden University. I hope to start a master's degree program soon.

I am so thankful that I get to be a teacher in Towanda. I love my students and my subject - it makes it easy to call this place home.

Bell Ringer: We went over the chapter 8 discussion questions as a class for participation points.

Today's Activities: After we finished our discussion of chapter 8, we began reading chapter 9 as a class. We made it to pg. 177 (3 pages from the end) when the bell rang.

Tomorrow's Class: We will finish reading chapter 9 before completing and discussing the chapter 9 discussion questions.

Homework: Finish as many of the chapter 9 discussion questions as possible.
