National Honor Society Induction

The Towanda Chapter of the National Honor Society held its 50th induction ceremony for new members on April 27th, 2016. The ceremony was a success in showing the accomplishments of students in four areas, scholarship, service, leadership and character. Senior students were recognized by having their future plans of college and major read to the audience.

JH Football Parent Meeting

There will be a JH Football parent meeting on August 4th @ 5:30 PM in the high school cafeteria. JH Football practice will start Monday, August 15th @ 3 PM. Players should report with current physical form and all other paperwork to the high school new gym lobby. Players should bring their football cleats, all other equipment will be issued. 2016-2017 Sports Physicals

If you choose to have a 2016-17 SPORTS PHYSICAL at the school – They WILL BE GIVEN AT THE HIGH SCHOOL ON MONDAY, JUNE 6, 2016 FROM 8 AM to 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM to 3 PM. Cost of the physicals will be $17.25. (make checks payable to: TASD Athletics)

Paperwork is available in the main office.

District IV Track Championships Rescheduled

The District IV Track Championships will now be on Sunday, May 22nd.

Keystone Exams

Pennsylvania Keystone Exams will be administered to Towanda Junior/Senior High School students during the month of May. The Keystone Exams are end-of course assessments designed to evaluate proficiency in academic content areas. Beginning with the class of 2019, students must demonstrate proficiency on the Algebra 1, Literature, and Biology Keystone Exams to graduate. Students will be offered multiple opportunities to take the Keystones throughout their high school careers. Students who scored Basic or Below Basic on any subject tested during a previous Keystone Exam Administration will be included in this test administration.

2016 Yearbook

Memories of this year will last a lifetime if you purchase this beautifully crafted 2016 Aerial Edition yearbook before Friday, May 6th. Every so often, the school district will get aerial photos taken of the district. This year was one of those years. This photo of the high school and surrounding district and town was chosen by our staff to be on the cover. The picture starts with the high school on the back, and wraps around the cover to the front.

Drama Club to Present Spring Musical Guys & Dolls

On April 21st, 22nd, and 23rd in the Towanda High School New Auditorium, the Towanda Drama Club will be presenting the musical Guys & Dolls (music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows) at 7 p.m. each night. The cost of admission is $7 for students and senior citizens and $9 for adults, and tickets can be purchased at the door starting at 6:30 p.m. on show nights. All proceeds benefit future Drama Club musical productions.

VFW Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Essay Winners

Our local VFW, Beirne-Webster Post 1568, sponsors an essay contest that is conducted nationwide. Students are given an opportunity to write essays expressing their views on an annual patriotic theme. This year’s Patriot’s Pen theme was “What Freedom Means to Me”. Students in our 7th and 8th grades had the opportunity to write about this topic.
