Q: So far this season's record is 2-4. Do you believe that this record shows what the team is capable of?
A: Our record is never an indication of what we are capable of in any season I have coached. Every high school football team wins the games that they should; not every team wins the games that it could. The big difference this year is winning the games that we could have won. I believe you never judge a team by its record. A team is ultimately judged on how hard they play.
Q: The last four games of the season are against North Penn-Mansfield, Troy, Tunkhannock, and Wyalusing. Do you believe that your team is capable of winning these games?
A: I believe the next four games are games that can be won as long as we take care of small details and have the courage to take care of those details by taking on the responsibility that they create.
Q: The first game of the season was a loss to Mahanoy Area; did you ever sit down and think that that game showed you what the rest of the season would look like?
A: The first game is NEVER an indication of how the season is going to go. We have improved vastly from that game to this game and I believe we will continue to get better until our final game, whenever that may be in the future.
Q: This is your first year back coaching after having resigned due to health reasons; how does it feel to be back and coaching the team?
A: How does it feel to be back coaching the team? Wow! Well, let me put it this way. Four years ago I was told that I would not be able to coach again. On top of that, I was told that I should not coach again because of the damage that would ensue if I continued to coach. Now, through a medical miracle, I am coaching again! You tell me…..how would you feel if you could continue doing what you have a passion for since boyhood?
Q: And lastly, if there was one thing that your players could take away from this season, what would you want it to be? What would you have them remember?
A: I want my players to take away from this season what I wanted every player in any season to take away from the sport of football. 1. To be part of something bigger than yourself. 2. Understand what it means to have honor. 3. Make lifelong memories. 4. Take responsibility for your life and to stop making excuses. One question, “Did I get it done?” Two answers: “yes” and “no.”
